hey big daddy, whatcha doin' tonight?

mona lisa, i know why your smiling.
you don't have to greet people all the time.

naturally, i try to escape every akward-situation. so, when i see people i know, but don't like, i try to get out of their way, so they can't see me. works out for me.
but sometimes you meet people you just have to greet, because there standing right in front of you. no escape. so you greet. and sometimes, there's that akward moment, when they look at you like: who the fuck are you?
and walk away, without a nod, or a smile or hello, or whatever you do, when you greet.
and you're like: omg, why did i greet him/her/them? that's soooo embarrassing. hate it.
but, today i tought 'wait a minute'. there's no, abso(fuckin)lutly reason to feel ashamed. you're not the impolite one. you greeted.
it's them.
it's so easy to show a little reaction. why not smile, nod, and then walk away. that's what i do, when someone i don't know greets me. happens not that often. i hardly remember names, but i'm a face-fanatic. i remember every face i ever met. the girl behind the h&m-counter? remembered. the woman who yelled at me for driving in the wrong direction? remembered. the guy, who never talked to me, but sits right in front of my desk, while seminar? remembered. actually, that guy once sat in one of those big-halls at university. i took a seat behind him, and he kind of said 'hello'. he never talked to me before. yet he greeted me. confusing. i didn't belive it. so i asked:
hey, did you just say 'hello' to me?

i think, what i'm trying to say is: we shouldn't be afraid. or ashamed. simply greet. you can't mess it up.
